5 Star Active partnership hosted the MAESTRIO ALL STAR MATCH

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation, strategic partner in the 5 Star Active partnership, held a dinner and charity football match throughout an amazing weekend in Glasgow, which raised funds for UNICEF and WAR CHILD through Celtic FC Foundation and the Rio Ferdinand Foundation.

Around 25,000 fans showed up at Celtic Park for the return of club legend Paul McStay as his Maestros side took on a team led by former England and Manchester United captain, Rio Ferdinand.

Ferdinand said: “I didn’t expect a full house especially after the last few weeks Celtic have had with their results and everything else that has gone on, but I trusted the people of Scotland to come out and support a good cause and they did that.

“We raised money and there were a lot of youngsters in the crowd and it’s kids we are trying to support so hopefully they’ll have more knowledge of that.

Paul McStay’s Maestros beat Rio Ferdinand’s All-Stars 3-2, with actor James McAvoy netting a penalty, which levelled the score after the All-Stars had taken a 2-0 first-half lead.

“It was a wonderful occasion and the players put on a decent game and scored a few goals,” Said Paul McStay. “The fans were fantastic, and those who turned up engaged in the game and made it really fun as well.
